Fifth Annual Thanksgiving Celebration
November 14, 1999, Revere High School

Revere First charitable organization held its fifth annual Thanksgiving Celebration for Senior Citizens on Sunday, November 14, 1999 at Revere High School from 1 to 4 P.M. The event event featured music, entertainment, and free raffles.
The Revere First committee worked for days to prepare for the event. All of the guests were treated to Turkey dinner with all of the fixings and dessert. After dinner, the Seniors danced the afternoon away to the disc-jockey's tunes. Before the conclusion of the event, many prizes were raffled.
In addition to the staff of Revere First, many others came out to lend a hand. Mayor Elect Tom Ambrosino, Representative Kathi Reinstein, Representative DeLeo, Councillor Guinasso, Councillor-Elect Zambuto, State Police Lieutenant Toomey, Democratic State Committee Candidate Jeff Turco, Former City Councillor Linda Rosa and Fernwood Professional Building developer and owner of Revere.com John Hamel were all present.
People were lining up in front of the High School before the doors opened and once dinner was served, the Revere First staff was again looking at a full house of guests. Over forty people volunteered their time from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. to prepare the meals and decorate the high school cafeteria. Others began some of the food preparation days before.
The event was first organized in 1994 by the late Representative William G. Reinstein. Representative Reinstein was the founder of Revere First, an organization that he said brought out the best in Revere. Among Revere First's activities are this Thanksgiving dinner for needy families and senior citizens, a Fourth of July celebration, and a Senior Citizen Prom held at the Wonderland Ballroom.
Revere First's Rose Napolitano of the Revere housing authority, organized this year's event. As always, Rose and the rest of the members of Revere First are looking for new members. Interested people should contact Rose at the Revere Housing Authority.
The dinner was delicious and included: Turkey breast, Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Squash, String Beans, Cranberry Sauce, Dinner Salad, Lemon sweet dessert, Apple Cider, and Coffee.
Additional help came from the Revere High Student members of the National Honor Society and the Interact Program. Mr. Collela from the high school organized the students' involvement and also volunteered him time to make the event possible.
Thanks should also be given to the Revere School Department Food Services Director Rich Medico and high school dinning services staff for helping to prepare the days meals.
Guests danced the afternoon away to the wonderful sounds of Rico Barr and The Jump and Jive Review whose members generously volutunered to play for this year's event.
